Dear BELS Members,

At BELS, we are aware that many of our members or their clients work for major science-funding agencies in the United States, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which have seen dramatic cuts in staff, funding recissions, and overhauled priorities. Because these changes may well affect our members and their careers adversely, we feel compelled to act and have devised a poll to learn what our members consider a suitable action.

The poll, which follows a lively discussion about this on the BELS email discussion list over the past month, consists of five proposed actions, as well as space to make other suggestions.
